Student Safety
The Debaters Association of Victoria works closely with schools and school-age children, and consequently we have the ethical and legal responsibility to ensure that children participating in DAV events are safe and supported. Our Statement of Commitment to Child Safety explains our aims and responsibilities in greater detail.
The DAV Child Safety Policy states the DAV's legal responsibilities, its recruitment procedures, and its risk management, reporting, and grievance procedures.
All DAV members who participate in DAV events must comply with the Child Safety Policy and with the DAV Child Safety Code of Conduct in addition to the Rules for DAV Competitions and Competition Code of Conduct. All members must hold a valid Working With Children Check or valid registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
We take our commitment to child safety very seriously. If you have any questions about student safety, please contact us.
