Year 8 Competition

For the first time in 2025, we will be offering Year 8 competition days. This program is aimed at students who have previously completed the introductory JSP program and are looking for further debating opportunities. The first program will run in Term 1 and we will look to add further dates in Term 4.

Note: A student can only participate in one of the two competitions or the Junior Secondary Program (JSP). Therefore, please pick one program that is most suitable.

Strathcona 2025

Format: The day will consist of 3 rounds of competition debates with an overall winner declared at the conclusion of the day.
When: Sunday 16 February, 10am-3pm
Where: Strathcona Girls Grammar School, 34 Scott St, Canterbury
Cost: $150 per team

MGS 2025

Format: This program would consist of 3 rounds of debates with a final for the top ranked teams. Debates would run from 6pm-6:45pm on the dates below.

Where: Melbourne Grammar School, 355 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne VIC 3004
Who: Students in Year 8 (capped at 4 teams per school, 4-6 students per team)
Cost: $175 per team
